Privacy Policy
Video Flashcards is a browser extension for reviewing Anki cards alongside supported video pages, including Netflix and YouTube. This policy explains what data the extension handles and why.
Data processed by the extension
- Extension settings stored locally in the browser.
- An installation identifier used for access control and license status.
- An optional account email entered by the user for license and access management.
- License activation data submitted when the user activates PRO access.
- Usage counters needed to enforce the free plan limit.
- Video page context required for extension functionality, such as supported page URLs and subtitle-related interaction.
How data is used
- To provide the extension’s core functionality.
- To connect extension access with the user’s installation and license status.
- To enforce free-plan usage limits and unlock PRO access.
- To troubleshoot and maintain the service.
Local and remote data handling
Some settings are stored locally in Chrome extension storage. Access-control data, such as installation ID, optional account email, license activation state, and usage counts, may be sent to the Video Flashcards backend so the extension can determine whether the user is on Free or PRO access.
Third-party services
Video Flashcards integrates with user-controlled services and websites, including Anki via AnkiConnect, Netflix, YouTube, and optionally Language Reactor when the user has that third-party extension installed. These third-party products have their own privacy practices and are not controlled by Video Flashcards.
Data sharing
Video Flashcards does not sell personal information. Data is used only to operate, secure, and support the extension.
Data retention
Access and licensing records are retained as needed to operate the Free and PRO access model and to maintain entitlement history.
